We assure you, it’s not what you think.
It’s world’s better and one of the MUST see stops during your vacation. The Fish Fry is not a backyard activity that involves dunking raw fish into the deep fryer, although it likely resembled that decades ago. In Exuma, The Fish Fry is a collection of colorful wooden shacks built along the shore of Elizabeth Harbour in Georgetown where you can dine like a local WITH the locals and have a drink or ten before dancing the night away. (Because ten drinks is a requirement before dancing right? Ok good.) Each shack has it’s own menu and/or attraction, be it karaoke, conch salad, coconut grouper, pizza, or a DJ. You’ll find Big 12, Charlie’s, Shirley’s, Krusty Krab, and many more charming little nooks where you can chat up the locals and have a blast.
It is THE place to be on Friday nights. If you’ve been out on the water all day, take a booze snooze in the afternoon because the party doesn’t get going until around 10:30 and can last until the wee hours of the morning. And watch the mixed drinks! They pour a heavy one.
The Fish Fry is #F18 on the Great Exuma map found here.
